Total Communication
“As an engineer, I like to know how stuff works. I don’t trust “black box” solutions where I’m expected to just trust how something works. I know that our intelligent field devices use EDDL in their communications, but just what the heck is that stuff? Seems pretty “black boxish” to me.”
While there may be no compelling need for end users to learn all of the ins and outs of EDDL, many folks would like to have a better understanding of what it is and why it is important than they do today. Christian Diedrich, Ludwig Winkel along with Emerson’s Jonas Berge and Terry Blevins have demystified EDDL in their recent InTech magazine article “Total Communication – EDDL allows interoperability for devices to constantly gather information (343KB PDF).” This piece provides end users a good understanding of what EDDL is, how it facilitates device interoperability, and how to get the latest updates for your devices. This is an excellent piece for folks to quickly get an overview aware of what s going on with their intelligent field device communications.
