Aug. 11, 2006 - Microsoft Security update information for August 2006. The latest set of Microsoft security updates contains a critical patch that the Department of Homeland Security has recommended that security patch MS06-040 be applied to your systems as quickly as possible (See http://www.dhs.gov/dhspublic/display?content=5789 for details).
Emerson Process Management has tested and approved this patch for use on our DeltaV Control Systems running Windows XP and Server 2003 operating systems. We suggest that this patch be installed as quickly as possible on any DeltaV control system that has a connection to an external LAN. If the patch cannot be applied we recommend that you either disconnect from the external LAN connection or set your firewall between the DeltaV system and the external LAN to block port communications over port 139 and 445.
