Integrating Safety and Control in a Digital World

For years you’ve heard that safety instrumented systems had to be completely separate from basic process control systems. In fact until recently, there just was no other way to do it. Safety was in one box – normally triply redundant, basic control in another. Now you hear that both can be in the same cabinet and even share information. This topic is discussed at length by several industry experts and independent industry analysts in the May issue of Automation World, “Integrating Safety and Control in a Digital World”. Read it and perhaps sleep better tonight.
